the new blog, while a useful exercise, is not exactly going in the direction i had intended. those who are familiar with my past blogs know that i start them very spontaneously.
i think this is closer to what i have in mind.

maybe
i'm trying out a new blog to replace this one.
if i could buy just one thing... is a blog about buying, and what i didn't, won't, and want to.
the introduction explains:
what - a blog about past, present and future shopping.
who - me.
after editing my closet down to a satisfying collection, i am now interested in maintaining the current size (or possibly reducing it further), so anything coming in has to be really really worth it. to maintain the quality and quantity of my wardrobe's contents, i have a 1-in, 1-out goal. this blog is a space to contemplate past mistakes, future purchases, and any relevant influences on either.
why - a few years ago i started a blog. the ideas and topics generated on that one morphed into a new blog, and from that one, yet another new one, etc., etc. and now i am starting this one, with a focus on making near perfect shopping decisions going forward. the blog is a space to contemplate the things i want (before i buy them), as well as the things i regret not buying, the things i realize i should not buy, and the various influences on my decisions. in the end...there might be a purchase, a near perfect one.
what if you could buy just one thing? it would have to be perfect.
i want to give my future purchases that type of consideration, whether or not they are the only thing i buy this year (that would be ideal though).
miscellaneous - i concurrently write 2 other blogs, Up and Down Town, which is also public, and The Copacetic Closet, which is private (it is open to frequent commenters who have participated respectfully in one of my blogs for 6+ months)
